Scott Carpenter Tracy

Scott Tracy, oldest of the Tracy sons, is like his father in very many ways. As a teenager, he helped his father raise his four younger brothers. As a result, each of them looks up to him, and he is very protective of them all. He was educated at both Yale, where he earned a bachelor's degree in technical design, and at Oxford, where he earned a Master's in aeronautic engineering. Like his father, he served with distinction in the Air Force, earning the ranking of "Top Gun" and was decorated for valor. Unlike his father, the dark-haired pilot did not move over to the Space Agency, preferring instead to continue his career with the Air Force until his father tapped him as pilot of the reconnaissance plane, Thunderbird One.

When piloting his rocket plane, he is the first one on the scene of any rescue, using his command skills to evaluate the scene and make the decisions that will mean life or death for those the IR crew is trying to rescue. He is often found at Mobile Control, an on-site communications system that helps him direct the rescue and keep everyone in touch with each other and with their secret base back on Tracy Island. If his father happens to be away from the Island, Scott takes his father's place as base commander, the trust and respect that he has earned from his brothers holding him in good stead when that occurs.

Because of his leadership position, Scott does not have much time for outside interests. But when he does have the opportunity, he likes bird watching, jazz music, and plays guitar. He is a good pool player and also plays a mean game of poker. His official position in Tracy Industries is pilot and aircraft designer. He has a special brotherly relationship with his next-in-line brother, Virgil, one that has sometimes been called "almost telepathic".
