Virgil Tracy, second of the Tracy sons, is known as perhaps the most versatile member of the International Rescue crew. He pilots the cargo-carrying Thunderbird 2 and is familiar with all of the auxiliary equipment. A graduate of the Denver School of Advanced Technology with both bachelor's and Master's degrees in engineering and computer technology, he has the skills and versatility to use, repair, and maintain the myriad vehicles that International Rescue has developed. He is usually the man in the field, using the Mole or the Firefly or whatever equipment the rescue deems necessary.

Chestnut-haired Virgil looks very much like his late mother, and has inherited her abilities in art and music. He plays piano and has earned awards for his performances. Virgil's artwork graces the walls of the Villa and he painted the portraits of his brothers and of himself that are used in the communications system in the Villa's lounge. He has a wide repertoire of music, but finds classical music, opera, and light jazz to be his very favorites.

Virgil enjoys rock climbing, skiing, and playing basketball one-on-one with his brothers, especially with Scott. His caring, self-sacrificing attitude has endeared him to all of his brothers, but he has an especially strong bond with his older brother, one that has helped them both through hard times.
