Joshua Kelly is an exuberant little boy with an incredibly easygoing temperament. He has never known his mother, who left his father six months into their marriage, and handed him over to his father hours after he was born. He lived with his father and his half-uncle for the first two years of his life. Joshua is comfortable being held by anyone, and is in no way a fussy baby. He enjoys being outside, especially on the beach, and his favourite toys include his building blocks and several stuffed toys including Squeaky Bear and Ducky. His favourite of these is Horsey, who accompanies him almost everywhere.

Among his hates are bath time, bed time, and when his father leaves abruptly. He enjoys peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and a wide variety of soft or mushy fruits and vegetables, mostly because his father is a vegetarian, and the majority of his diet consists of these.

Joshua is very affectionate, and adores his father. It is rare for him to take a dislike to someone, and this usually only happens when someone hurts him or his dad.
