Which birth order are you using?

Marriott's: Scott, Virgil, John, Gordon and Alan

How old are the canon characters?

Depends on who you ask. Marriott says Jeff's 56, Scott's 30, Virgil's 27, John's 25, Gordon's 22, and Alan's 21 (or turns 21 during the show). He gives ages for Penny (27) and Parker (52), but no ages for Brains, Tin-Tin, Kyrano, the Hood, or Grandma.

Bentley changes the birth order of the boys and makes them much younger. Jeff is still 56, but Scott's 26, John's 25, Virgil's 24, Gordon's 22, and Alan's 21. Penny is 26, Parker's still 52, but Brains is now 25, Tin-Tin's 22, and the Hood is 47 (yeah, he gave the Hood a birthday!). Poor Grandma and Kyrano are left without birthdays or ages again.

For our purposes, the ages and birth order are Marriott's though the birth years are shifted to reflect the year we're working in, the exception being Penelope, for whom we used Bentley's age and date. The ages are either what they have turned or will turn during the 2068. Jeff is 59, Scott's 33, Virgil's 30, John is 28 and so is Brains, Gordon and Tin-Tin are both 25, Alan is 24. Penny is 29, Parker is 55, and the Hood is 50. We've given both Grandma and Kyrano ages and birth dates: Grandma is 79 and Kyrano turns 65.

What was Jeff's wife's name?

Jeff's wife was never mentioned in the show at all. However, in the comics, we find that Jeff has named his yacht, Lucille, after her. So that's what we're going with for Jeff's wife.

The maiden name of Hammett was randomly selected for our RP.

What is Grandma's first name?

This is another area in which the show says nothing. It's clear that she is a Tracy, but her first name is never given. Fanon names have included: Ruth, Josephine, Eleanor, and Victoria. It is stated in 1990s comic book history, "The Complete Thunderbirds Story", however, that her husband's name was definitely Grant.

For the purposes of our RP, we're going with Ruth, and we've given her the maiden name of Clark.

Why do Kyrano and the Hood have different last names?

Kyrano was never given a first name in the show, but it's clear that he's being called by his surname because of Tin-Tin – whose surname is Kyrano. The Hood was never given a name on the show, in fact, he was never even called “the Hood”! That, and his “real” name of Belah Gaat, came later, in the books and comics. It's implied in both Marriott and Bentley that the two share a father, for it was the Hood's baleful mental influence that made Kyrano's father (a wealthy plantation owner) disinherit him. So, in the “canon” materials, there's no reason given for the difference in names.

In our RP, we've chosen to interpret this as an affair on the part of Kyrano's father, one that resulted in the birth of the Hood, who was then given his mother's surname. We've also given Kyrano a proper name: Tuan, which in Malaysian, means “Master”.

Hiram Hackenbacker is an alias. What's Brains's real name?

Tricky, this. In 1993, on a British kids' show called "What's Up Doc?", Brains was a special guest, and he revealed his real name to be “Homer Newton III”. No, really. He did. It's been used nowhere else, however, so maybe he was joking.

In our RP, we took a poll on what Brains's real name should be, because he deserved something better than Hiram Hackenbacker (or Homer Newton, for that matter). When the poll ended, the votes were tabulated, and the winner was: John Grayson. So, for the purposes of our RP only, that's what his name is. One member suggested that they use "Brains" all the time because having two brilliant men named "John" on the island might cause confusion.
